A Shirt for Harmony, Humanity, Hope.
For Iran…The elections of June 2009 marked the start of a new chapter in the history of Iran. Many of us were caught off guard by the images and amateur videos defecting from Tehran, each leaving behind an indelible mark of horror, anger, pride, and heartache in our minds and souls. From all of this, at least one thing is for certain—over 14 million Iranian citizens want change, to the extent that they are willing to demonstrate at the cost of their lives. Now, as the fervor in the streets has begun to quell, it is our responsibility to never forget their sacrifice and what it has led to—the rejuvenation of the reform movement, and the birth of the second revolution. For Omeed…Our mission is simple. Many powerful images from Iran’s June 2009 crackdown, especially those of Neda and the other martyrs, will not be forgotten. And they should never be. However, we wanted to assure that another set of images will define the movement as well; images of protestors protecting riot police officers. In these times, it is important to be reminded that mankind is able to look beyond the divisions we have created over the past millennia and realize that ultimately, we must all be on the same side. Thanks to such exemplary actions, we know that for the sake of humanity, there is still اميد. For Charity…One of these unforgettable images has been redrawn and appears on the front of our shirt. And on the back, we have our declaration of solidarity with all of those who have been fighting for freedom in Iran. Furthermore, all proceeds from the sales of our shirt will go to a charity we are personally in contact with in Iran. This organization is run by an engineer turned philanthropist who provides opportunities for women who have been either abused and/or abandoned by their husbands and must now support their entire family on their own. The economy and women’s rights, especially regarding divorce laws, were two of the many reasons voter turnout was an unprecedented 85% this year. While this foundation will not make a national change regarding these issues, it can help a handful of individual families who would be forever grateful. In an exercise of caution, we cannot provide the name of the organization or its founder, but if you would like more information feel free to email us. For Never Forgetting…If you want to keep the movement alive. If you want to help show your solidarity with the protestors in Iran. If you want to help shine a small glimmer of hope in a sea of oppression. If you want to support an altruistic cause within Iran, then please, purchase a shirt and help spread the word. Together, we can keep the birth of our second revolution from fading away. Comments/Questions?
